Baby age calculator

Find out exactly how old your baby is in weeks, months and days - with corrected age for little ones who arrived before 37 weeks.

Leave at 40 if your baby was born at term.

Private: the calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent or saved.

How baby age is calculated

  • Age in months and days: whole calendar months since the birth date, plus the remaining days.
  • Age in weeks: total days since birth ÷ 7, with the leftover days.
  • Corrected age (babies born before 37 weeks): chronological age - (40 weeks - weeks pregnant at birth). For example, a baby born at 32 weeks is 8 weeks early, so at 4 months old their corrected age is about 2 months.

Every baby develops at their own pace. Bring any questions about growth or milestones to your baby’s doctor or health visitor. For your own cycle after birth, the period calculator can help.

Frequently asked questions

What is corrected age?

Corrected (or adjusted) age is your baby’s age counted from their due date instead of their birthday. For a baby born early it gives a fairer picture of which milestones to expect.

Until when should I use corrected age?

Many health professionals use corrected age for development checks until around two years old. Your baby’s doctor or health visitor will tell you what they use.

Why do weeks and months not match up?

Months have different lengths, so "3 months" is not always the same number of weeks. We count whole calendar months from the birth date, and show the total weeks and days separately.
